MEET THE BOARD

The El Portal Woman’s Club board is comprised of a colorful group of amazing, talented women who are dedicated to our community and the organization's mission.

Maribel Trujillo-Fruitstone  |  President

Maribel moved to El Portal in 2001 because she wanted a house in a good neighborhood with older, charming homes and a backyard with trees. Her favorite thing about the Village is its proximity to everything; arts, culture, airport, beaches, sports, etc, and the fact that she is part of an active community.  She sees the world through the eyes of an artist, often observing people, music, and places in a way that inspires her to express herself positively. She loves arts and crafts and is most inspired by her daughter. Maribel’s favorite El Portal events are associated with river clean-up. As an EPWC board member, she would like to encourage events that people will look forward to coming to every year and would love for EPWC to try and acquire another green space in the Village to transform into a park for the community. The project she is most passionate about is caroling through the village. She would also like to help spruce up the Village with community grants.

Sidra Mattson Urbom  |  Vice President

Sidra is the Financial Director at Arts for Learning, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing teaching and learning through the arts and community cultural resources. She holds a BS degree in Systems Analysis from the University of Miami’s School of Business, where she graduated with honors. She believes in the connections between music and math and that her childhood training in piano, choir, and violin are serving her well in her career. Sidra has been a resident of El Portal since 2013 with her husband and three children, and is a founding member of the revitalization of the El Portal Woman's Club in 2015.

Zamira Diaz  |  2nd Vice President

Zamira is an El Portal Women’s Club board member who loves “the feeling of nature” she experiences during a walk or bike ride through the Village. She is inspired by her Aunt Maribel’s patience, understanding, and work ethic. She is influenced by her aunt’s big heart, great advice, and faith in God. If Zamira were an addition to the crayon box, she would be “SPARKLY BLUE: because “everything around and above God's green Earth is amazing, peaceful and blue” and she likes “a little ‘bling’ to make things shine”. As an EPWC board member, she would like to encourage others to get involved in the community, share ideas and support Club members in fulfilling their community wishes, and she’d like to help create activities and events that are supportive of the community.

Ibis Garcia  |  Secretary

Ibis is an Audio Engineer, AV Technician, and Technology Specialist. She is a seasoned entrepreneur, running The Production Consultant and providing her expertise to the community for over 32 years. Ibis has a passion for volunteerism, which is shown through her 14 years of service to Hands On Miami on numerous projects including child welfare, environment, poverty alleviation and many more. A longtime resident of El Portal, Ibis is dedicated to cleaning up our Little River and involving the youth in our community through an educational program.

Cintia Igarzabal  |  Treasurer

Cintia is a Legal Assistant/Paralegal at Bernstein Osberg-Braun and loyal member of the El Portal Women’s Club, which happens to be her favorite part of living there. Since the first day she met them, she felt welcomed by open arms. As secretary of the group, she recognizes EPWC members as “hard-working women, moms, and friends with different backgrounds and the same beautiful heart”. She thinks her favorite event thus far will be Witches and Brews. Cintia is proud to be part of an organization of “amazing human beings willing to make a difference for the Village, while having fun in the process”. Fellow members recognize her as their modest and caring “get it done girl”, who rolls up her sleeves and tackles whatever needs to be done.

Amanda Koziar  |  Member

Amanda is Founder & President of Amaniac Design, an advertising and marketing company that serves branding and design needs of all types. Amanda has been a resident of El Portal since 2007, originally drawn in by its natural beauty and central location. She is a current member of the Women’s Club and loves the smaller town feel in the middle of a large city, as well as the fact that neighbors help neighbors and are active in the community. As an EPWC member, she would like to spread awareness about the organization, help obtain more members, and encourage more events for the community to enjoy as a whole. Beautification projects in the Village public spaces also draws her attention, so that more of the community can be enjoyed as a whole. In her free time, Amanda enjoys putting her green thumb to work by gardening, and cooking delicious recipes with a variety of ingredients.

Gigi Krop  |  Member

Augusta “Gigi” Krop was born in Brooklyn, New York and is known or her honesty and integrity. She is inspired by Marilyn Morse’s beauty, talent, and vulnerability and growing up, she wanted to be a movie director so that she could tell stories and be in touch with her creative side. She moved to El Portal after realizing the value in it, as a realtor, and wanting to purchase a home for herself. She loves that it is a “little tropical oasis in urban Miami with the community feel of a small town”. As an EL Portal Women’s Club board member, she would like to schedule and plan events that bring people together to meet a charitable goal, while simultaneously, promoting a sense of community and fun.
